Some (not much) chatter of an early Australian election

There are some political shenanigans occurring in Australia today, a potential challenge to the Prime Minister

I have seen a think-out-loud piece from Australia’s best election analyst (ABC’s Antony Green’ raising the potential for an early poll:

  • We are within 12 months of the end of the Senate term
  • So whoever is Prime Minister is entitled to ask the Governor-General for an election for the House and half of the Senate
  • The minimum campaign period from the issue of writs to a polling day on a Saturday is 33 days

Yowza.

I can’s see it coming, but if the PM did call an early election it would probably kill leadership speculation (and his government 😀 )

AUD is doing little but just a heads up if we start to see some political volatility

Current PM Turnbull on the left of the pic. Opposition leader Shorten on the right. Or maybe its just  two random guys. But, who cares?
