A snapshot of the strongest and weakest 

A look at the strongest and weakest currencies on the last day of the calendar year is showing that the GBP is the strongest, while the NZD is the weakest. The USD is mixed with declines vs the GBP and JPY and gains vs the NZD and CHF. The EURUSD, USDCAD and AUDUSD are little changed.

A snapshot of other markets is showing:

  • Spot gold, -$1.50 at $1279.50
  • WTI crude oil, +$0.34 at $5.69
  • S&P index, +21.54 points or 0.88% at 2507.41
  • Nasdaq index, +71 points or 1.09% at 6656
  • Dow industrial average +236 points or 1.02% at 23298

US yields are higher:

  • 2 year2.528%, +1.2 basis points
  • 5 year 2.566%, +1.1 basis points
  • 10 year 2.735%, +1.7 basis points
  • 30 year 3.046%, +2.45 basis points
